1927 Rebuilt 5'8" Knabe Grand Piano For Sale
This grand piano was built with extraordinary craftmanship in 1927, and rebuilt with quality materials in 2000. The low-tension scale provides a warm and lyrical tone while still retaining brightness at a louder dynamic and a shimmering high range. I would compare the tone of this piano to a Steinway O. This piano features a functioning QRS player system (from 2000) that can be retrofitted with a bluetooth MIDI transmitter so you can utilize player piano streaming apps from your phone or other device. It has a Dampp-Chaser humidity control system to help mitigate swings in humidity between summer and winter. This piano has a very light action which makes playing fast passages a breeze.
Asking $13,000 firm which includes local move (Nashville) and two tunings-- one at the time of move and a follow up tuning 3 weeks later.
The price of this piano in peak condition would be $20-25k and I am listing it at a lower price for two reasons. The finish has been sun-bleached due to years spent by large windows in my childhood home, but this is not extremely noticeable with the hinged part of the lid left open (see photos). Other minor finish flaws are present. The condition of the bridge is also not what I would like it to be. It seems the bridge was not replaced when the piano was restrung in 2000 and due to the harsh winters of northern NH, the wood has developed cracks. This is not a majorly pressing issue currently since the tuning holds very well still. But at some point in the future the owner may want to consider having the bridges repaired along with another restringing job and potentially work on the pinblock. The difference in price is allowing for this work to be done in the future.
